I’m all about green products and creating a healthy environment to live in…but I find it hard to be perfectly, 100% green. I love my drugstore and luxury makeup brands, perfumes, processed cheese (I know…gross, right!?) and chemical-based toilet bowl cleaners.
I do try to incorporate green alternatives where I can – it’s all in the name of balance. I recently switched to natural deodorant, I try to use toxic-free nail polish where I can, and I’ll use matches and natural candles instead of toxic air fresheners. I also like natural counter spray, especially for the bathroom and kitchen.
One of my favourite counter sprays is a DIY and ridiculously easy to make. It also costs next to nothing to make. You can experiment with different essential oils for different scent combinations and you can be rest assured that it’s chemical free. It’s so “green” that you could probably drink it…although I wouldn’t advise you to do this. That would be gross.
What you need:
2 cups distilled water
2 cups white vinegar
9 drops of your favourite essential oil(s)
1 spray bottle (I got mine from the dollar store)
Combine the vinegar, water and essential oils in the bottle, give it a shake (with the lid on…) and start spritzing! Super simple.
I love the smell of this…it’s so refreshing, calming and it just smells clean!
