I’m a sucker for the spa. I find it the perfect space for self-care and me-time. Once I walk into the spa, I find all of my stress melts off and it’s one of the few places where my brain stops thinking. *Sigh*
I recently had the pleasure of visiting THE TEN SPOT for their dermalogica facial. I absolutely love everything about dermalogica (fyi this post is not sponsored nor promoted). dermalogica products are free of all common irritants and ingredients and they’re crafted to improve skin health using the best ingredients possible. They’re pricey, but they’re worth it and a little goes a long way. I don’t often splurge on dermalogica products, so having a facial with a full suite of skin-loving, dermalogica products was a bonus. How many times did I just say dermalogica??? Oops!
Once I got into THE TEN SPOT’s facial room, I slid under the blanket on the table, put my hair up and closed my eyes. It was time to r-e-l-a-x! The esthetician started off by double cleansing my skin, first with precleanse and then with the ultracalming cleanser. My skin is super sensitive so ultracalming is my go-to in their product line-up.
Next came the exfoliation using the daily microfoliant. This is an all-star product, made primarily of rice bran to gently brighten the skin. I love this stuff! I recently got a hold of the new daily superfoliant and it’s just as good – packed with a ton of amazing ingredients that help to absorb pollutants and debris left on the skin.
After the exfoliation was my favourite part, the steam! I lovvvvve chilling under the steam, it’s so relaxing.
I opted to forgo the extraction process, just because in the past I’ve had awful experiences with the whole prodding and poking thing (not at THE TEN SPOT though)!
Toner was applied to my skin following the steam, as a way to prep for the masque. I had the multivitamin power recovery masque, which restores the skin from stress and boosts collagen synthesis in the skin. It’s also packed with antioxidants and plumps the skin up with moisture. I loved this masque and it literally felt like my skin was eating up all the vitamins. While the masque set I got a lovely hand massage – which was so needed (especially since we use our hands all day!).
Wow, it was one of the best facials I’ve ever had.
I left with the cleanest face and it felt SO hydrated. It was such a great facial and I’ll definitely be back…maybe next time for ‘the quickie’ facial, which is only 25 minutes! However, my skin is acting up these days and I might just need to give it some lovin’ with THE TEN SPOT’s detox quickie facial.
I must admit, I hadn’t been for a facial in quite some time. I’m all for facials, I think they’re a great addition to maintaining healthy skin and giving it that extra boost of love….but, taking an hour out of your day and spending $$$ on a treatment every month can be hard on the wallet (and your schedule)…so treat yourself to a facial a couple times a year and in between treatments take the time to give yourself facials at home with skin-loving ingredients.
In my next post I’ll give you a run-down of some of the best products to use in-between treating your skin to a much needed spa experience.
