Can you believe another year has come and gone?
This year I rang in the new year with best friends, wearing sweatpants, sipping prosecco and making way too much noise for condo life (oops!). It was such a fun start to the year and that Monday afternoon was very slow (hehe)!. Yesterday (the 2nd) was back to work…but my commute wasn’t long! It’s now my third month being self-employed and I am very excited to watch my business grow in 2018.
After taking a few days to let the new year settle in, I’m excited to post my first post for 2018 and share a few of my goals for the year.
1. WAKE UP EARLIER. I used to be SUCH a morning person. I used to wake up early and do yoga, enjoy my breakfast at the kitchen table and casually get ready for the day. But, in 2017 I was terrible for waking up early. Not sure if I can blame our blackout blinds for that…or for binge watching Netflix late at night…but mornings were. not. my. thing. I want to happily say hello to my morning routine again, so this year I’m making it a goal…day by day…to wake up before 7 am. Today I woke up at 5:30 AM…and I haven’t fallen asleep at my desk, woo!
2. JOURNAL OFTEN. I love writing. It’s what I do for work and for my blog. However, I don’t journal as much as I’d like. Usually because I’m too tired at the end of the day. This year, my husband and I have decided to take one hour an evening and dedicate it to a form of personal development. I’m going to use that hour to stay offline…so as often as I can, I’m going to journal!
3. CREATE. I love to create. I love to paint, draw, cook, photograph, design and even build. I think I was pretty great at creating in 2017, but I want to make sure I put that goal out into the universe for 2018 and create even more.
4. SPEND MORE TIME COOKING. I love my food and I love to cook. I also love that my husband loves to cook (woo!). Some weeks we’ll cook more than others, and some weeks we’ll order in more than others. Cooking takes time…all the planning, prepping, etc. So, this year I’m making it my goal to plan my recipes ahead, meal prep and just spend more time in the kitchen in my favourite apron. As I write this goal, I’m a bit teary eyed. The kitchen was my very close Aunt’s favourite place to be (who sadly passed away in the summer). She taught me so much about cooking and not a day goes by where I don’t think of her when I’m cooking. Going forward my goal is to spend more time creating delicious meals and personally honouring my Aunt’s passion.
What are your goals for 2018?
