Last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Lemon Water Wellness in the Distillery District for a naturopathic initial assessment with Dr. Nadine Khoury. I’ve always been a fan of naturopathy and find it all so interesting. I love that there are natural, alternative ways to prevent and treat illness, which can be just as effective as conventional medicine. I do realize that there are certain instances where the conventional approach overrides naturopathy, but when there’s a balance between the both I think it’s super beneficial.
When I had my appointment I wanted to discuss my overall health. I didn’t have a particular issue I wanted to address, I just wanted to see how I could achieve optimal health to feel my best. Lately I feel like my body is waking up from being in winter mode (tired and bleh) and I’m still trying to figure out the delicate balance of getting my hormones back to normal (since getting off the pill a couple years ago).
We literally talked about everything and anything to do with my health, such as:
I LOVED how in-depth everything was and our discussion made me realize that there have been things I’ve kind of just been sweeping under the carpet and not really dealing with. I had a lot of ‘ah-ha’ moments and Dr. Khoury was amazing at explaining everything so well.
After discussing basically everything to do with my body, Dr. Khoury told me about next steps, which included her sitting down with all of the information we talked about and developing a treatment protocol to address some of the areas where my health is lacking (i.e. imbalanced hormones and higher than normal stress levels).
A couple days after my appointment I received an email from Dr. Khoury to access Fullscript – an online, password protected platform that provides me with my treatment plan and recommended supplements. The great thing about this platform is that it provides locations of where you can buy each supplement and gives you the option to purchase online, which is so much easier than running around trying to find everything.
I’m really excited to work on this plan with her and I can’t wait to see how I can increase my health to feel like the best version of myself. For the next month I’ll be working on the recommendations and plan she sent along and then following up for a second appointment.
…But until then, I might just go back to visit the clinic. Lemon Water Wellness has so many awesome services, such as private yoga, reiki, psychotherapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic and holistic nutrition.
They even have the cutest little general store attached to their clinic!
*Disclaimer: Lemon Water Wellness provided me with a complimentary appointment in exchange for a review. All views and opinions are my own with no messaging from Dr. Khoury or the clinic. I truly am a huge believer and supporter of naturopathic medicine and it’s a topic I am very passionate about.
