A few months ago I started using Biologique Recherche Lotion P50T, a gentle exfoliating toner, after reading rave reviews. It’s been referred to as “Jesus in a bottle” and the “Holy Grail” of toners. I bought it, tried and it and instantly LOVED it. It made my skin feel soft, refreshed and smooth. The only thing I wasn’t a fan about was the price and scarcity of it in the city. I ordered it offline from One-One Studio’s online store for $30.50 + $10 shipping for a 50 ml bottle (aka super small and super pricey). Sometimes the cost of beauty hurts right?
Then, just a month ago I found out about the launch of Pixi Beauty in Canada. They’re a UK brand well known for their exfoliating toner called Glow Tonic. Once it launched in the Shopper’s Drug Mart closest to me, I found the toner, tried it and loved it…just as much as Lotion P50T. I found it made a difference to my skin overnight. I also love the price…$16 for 100 ml bottle or $30 for a 250 ml bottle.
After a few nights of using it I fell in love and ran back to Shopper’s for more Pixi. I grabbed the Glow Mud Cleanser, Hydrating Milky Mist and Rose Oil Blend Face Oil.
I love it all. It’s an amazing line and I’m loving what it’s doing for my skin.
So, without further ado, here is my Pixi beauty routine + review.
In the morning and evening, I start with the Glow Mud Cleanser. I use about a chickpea-sized dollop and rub it all over my face and let it sit for about a minute. It’s kind of a funny colour for a cleaner, as it’s soft brown and looks like clay. I read some forums that said leaving it on for a few minutes allows the ‘mud’ to penetrate deeper into the pores. So far, so good. I love the smell of it…it smells like ginger and aloe. I also like the fact that it doesn’t leave my face feeling dry after I wash it off.
I then squeeze the Glow Tonic onto a cotton pad and swipe over my face. It’s made of 5% glycolic acid, which gently exfoliates to brighten and smooth the skin. It’s also alcohol-free. It includes wonderful skin-healing ingredients, such as witch hazel (pH balancing and fights pimples), ginseng (anti-aging and brightens skin), biotin (maintains the youthful glow of skin) and horse chestnut (helps with circulation). It smells so lovely…it kind of smells like a Dove soap bar with a touch of rose.
Next, I spritz my face with the Hydrating Milk Mist. It’s an awesome moisturizer and acts as a great primer for makeup, as it leaves the skin feeling a bit sticky. It’s made with hyaluronic acid (prevents moisture loss), black oat (supports skin’s natural moisture), provitamin A (strengthens skin cell turnover and moderates skin renewal), linoleic acid (heals, hydrates and plumps) and vitamins B1 (antioxidant), B2 (prevents pimples) and B6 (prevents production of excess sebum (aka oil). It also smells amazing – a light smelling, florally fragrance. The mist is also super fine so it doesn’t make your skin feel wet afterward…it also dries super quick. If my skin is feeling super dry (which it has been lately), I finish it up with First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.
In the evening, after I wipe my makeup off, I’ll let the Cleanser sit on my skin for about a minute and then I use my Philips PureRadiance – a gentle electric scrub brush. Then I’ll tone and instead of the third step being the Mist, I use the Rose Oil Blend. Apparently it helps to improve the skin’s elasticity and glow…and so far it definitely seems to be helping with my glow. I love how soft my skin feels the next day and it certainly feels renewing. I’ll then spritz on the Mist and my final layer is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. The Rose Oil Blend smells like roses and citrus. Love, love, love it…and I love the pink label!
All in all, I’m just loving this line. My dark spots seem to be fading, my skin feels smoother and I definitely feel like my dry winter skin is better hydrated. It’s also great for all skin-types (which the products mentions).
I can’t wait to try out more of Pixi Beauty’s products!
Have you tried the line? What have you tried?
