Today’s Wisdomm article features not one inspiring lady, but FIVE!
Inspire, empower, encourage, support. These are four of the words that Canadian garment company, Peace Collective, uses to describe their Girls Only collection – a collection of clothing to encourage women across the nation to chase their passion(s). The Girls Only collection is modelled by some super inspiring Canadian ladies who are strong, independent and who have been doing amazing things to support other women. I absolutely LOVE this initiative. Not only for the sweet, comfy clothing but for the ladies who embody the vision of this collection.
Meet the Girl Gang: five, wise Toronto women who are total “girl-bosses” going after their goals, all while supporting other girls. Left to right: MJ DeCouteau, Christina Cheng, Liz Trinnear, Taveeta Szymanowicz and Alyssa Bertram.
THE GIRL GANG
MJ DeCoutea – one of the five – is the founder of Rethink Breast Cancer, a non-profit aimed at dispelling the myth that breast cancer is just an “old lady disease”. Her goal with the organization is to take the fear out of the conversation about breast cancer and to educate, support and provide resources to younger women. She’s created a pretty amazing organization. FYI – Breast Cancer Awareness Month is this month…October!
Up next is Christina Cheng, a ‘creative multi-hyphenate’, aka a lady who wears a bunch of different hats. She’s a social media strategist, digital content producer, multimedia storyteller, avid blogger, wardrobe stylist and blogger. Talk about b-u-s-y! I love that she’s profiled, as it goes to show you that you don’t have to just have one passion…you can have a handful and there’s nothing that says you can’t work on them all simultaneously.
Liz Trinnear, who you’ve most likely seen on eTalk and Much Music, is a lady who has worked her way up the entertainment ladder to rank as one of Canada’s top TV hosts. She is a great example of working hard to achieve your passion.
Taveeta Szymanowicz is a one-woman show who created a platform called Veeta Girl to empower and engage young women. Her goal is to bring girls of every race, religion and size to support one another. Nothing better than that, right!?
Last, but certainly not least is Alyssa Bertram, founder of easy. – an organic tampon/pads delivery service with the aim to make your life easier. She’s all about women empowerment, body empowerment and removing the taboo and shame associated with periods. I actually interviewed her last year for my Wisdomm series – read more about her here. I’ve been subscribed to easy. since last November and I will NEVER go back to regular tampons. I know you should ‘never’ say ‘never’, but I’m serious about this one. Organic all the way, girls.
STYLISH & COMFY AF
There are so many other ladies who come to mind when I think of the Girls Only collection and I love that when I wear my Girls Only cropped sweater and Home is Canada t-shirt I think of all the strong, entrepreneurial, independent ladies out there.
This sweater and t-shirt are cozy, stylish, feminine and scream GIRL POWER!
